Motto: “Let’s Design Better Worlds Together”
We declare December the month when designers everywhere pause, provoke, prototype, and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
This is not another awareness campaign.
This is a global movement of action.
We believe
- Design is not decoration. Design is decision-making with consequences.
- Every system touching human life—cities, policies, apps, supply chains, climates, communities—can and must be redesigned.
- Good intentions are meaningless without craft, collaboration, and courage.
- The future is not predicted; it is designed. If we do not design it deliberately, someone else will design it carelessly.
- Diversity in teams is not “nice-to-have.” It is the only way to create solutions that do not accidentally exclude, harm, or erase.
- Designers are citizens first. We owe allegiance to people and planet, not just to clients and shareholders.
- Speed is the enemy of depth. Slowing down in December gives us the clarity to sprint better the rest of the year.
- Beauty without justice is wallpaper. Justice without beauty is punishment. We refuse to choose between them.
- Open-source, co-creation, and radical generosity are the fastest ways to scale solutions that actually work.
- Play is serious work. Joy is a design material.
Therefore, every December we commit to:
DEC 1–7 | DECLARE
Publicly share one broken system you will no longer accept as “just the way things are.”
DEC 8–15 | DISASSEMBLE
Break it apart. Map its parts. Expose its biases, waste, and hidden winners.
DEC 16–23 | DESIGN
Prototype fearless alternatives—rough, fast, human-centred, planet-positive.
DEC 24–30 | DELIVER
Ship something real: a policy memo, a pop-up intervention, open-source code, a community ritual, a repaired public space—anything that moves the world one millimetre closer to better.
DEC 31 | DANCE
Celebrate what we made, mourn what we lost, rest, recharge, and get ready to do it again—only bigger—next year.
This is a borderless movement.
From Bengaluru to Bogotá, Lagos to Tokyo, São Paulo to Stockholm—every studio, classroom, street corner, and village square is invited.
No central committee. No gatekeepers. No fees.
Just designers designing better worlds together.
