Indian Children’s Charter & Pledges.. (GRP+GROK)
Inspired by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
On Children’s Day – 14 November
For Building Nava Bharat Vision 2030
A Happy, Fearless, Thinking and Kind India
“The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.”
– Jawaharlal Nehru
PREAMBLE – The Nehru Dream (in his own spirit)
We, the children, parents and teachers of India, remembering Chacha Nehru’s boundless love for children and his vision of a modern, scientific, just and joyous India, pledge to build a new Bharat by 2030 where every child is:
- Healthy in body and mind
- Fearless in thought and action
- Curious like a scientist
- Kind like a friend
- Proud of India and eager to serve her
This is our Indian Children’s Charter – Nava Bharat 2030.
PART I – CHARTER OF RIGHTS & PROMISES TO EVERY CHILD
Every Indian child has the right to:
- Love and protection from fear, hunger and violence – just as Chacha Nehru wanted every child to smile.
- Good food, clean water, a safe home and quality healthcare.
- Joyful Homes, Streets & Schools where learning feels like play and play teaches life.
- Books, science laboratories, sports grounds, music, art and the sky full of stars to dream under.
- Freedom to ask questions, make mistakes and discover truth – “Why?” is the most beautiful word.
- Equality – no child shall be left behind because of caste, religion, gender, money or ability.
- A green and clean India – trees, rivers and animals are our friends.
- Digital wings but rooted hearts – technology shall serve us, not chain us.
- Be heard – children’s voices matter in family, school and nation.
- Grow into citizens who build, not break; who unite, not divide.
PART II – THREE PLEDGES
1. Children’s Pledge (Bal Bharat Pledge)
(To be read aloud by children every morning in schools)
Today, I am the seed of Nava Bharat.
I promise:
- To study with joy and curiosity, because knowledge is my superpower.
- To respect my teachers, love my friends, and help anyone who needs me.
- To keep my body strong, my mind sharp and my heart clean.
- To speak the truth bravely and never hurt anyone by word or deed.
- To plant at least one tree every year and keep my India green and beautiful.
- To dream big dreams – of flying to Mars, curing diseases, writing poems, playing for India – and work hard to make them true.
- To remember Chacha Nehru’s smile and make every elder smile back.
This is my promise to myself and to Bharat Mata.
Jai Hind!
2. Parents’ Pledge (Mata-Pita Pratigya)
We, the mothers and fathers of India, promise our children:
- We will give you roots of love and wings of freedom.
- We will listen more than we lecture, understand more than we judge.
- We will not measure you only by marks, but by your kindness, courage and creativity.
- We will switch off screens to switch on stories, games and long walks together.
- We will teach you to respect every religion, every language and every worker who builds our nation.
- We will live the values we want to see in you – truth, honesty and hard work.
- We will fight for good schools, clean parks and safe streets for all children, not just our own.
- We will keep Chacha Nehru’s faith alive: you are the future, and we trust you completely.
Because the child we raise today will raise tomorrow’s India.
3. Teachers’ Pledge (Guru Vachan)
We, the teachers of India – the builders of Nava Bharat, promise:
- Every child is unique; we will discover the spark in each and light it into a flame.
- We will make classrooms gardens of questions, laboratories of wonder and playgrounds of laughter.
- We will teach children how to think, not what to think.
- We will be lifelong learners ourselves – reading, experimenting, growing with our students.
- We will protect every child from fear, humiliation and comparison.
- We will teach pride in India’s past, responsibility for her present and courage for her future.
- We will work with parents as partners and with society as guardians of childhood.
- Like Chacha Nehru’s own teachers inspired him, we will inspire a thousand Nehru-like minds.
Because a teacher lights lamps that light other lamps.
CLOSING CALL – Let us begin today
On this Children’s Day, let every school, every home, every heart echo with roses, laughter and promises.
Let us together build the India of Nehru’s dreams –
A Nava Divya Bharat where every child wakes up smiling, goes to bed dreaming, and grows up to say:
“I am proud to be Indian, and India is proud of me.”
Happy Children’s Day!
Let the children lead the way to 2030.
Jai Hind!
Chacha Nehru amar rahein!
