Land of Karna’s Karuna.. Kalyana Karnataka..
Ode to Karnataka: A Poem for Rajyotsava
In the cradle of the Deccan, where the Western Ghats embrace the sky,
Karnataka awakens, with rivers of gold and mountains that defy.
From the iron resolve of Visvesvaraya, who tamed the wild Kaveri’s flow,
To Wodeyars’ thrones of justice, where equity’s seeds were sown to grow.
Echoes of Kittur’s Rani Chennamma, sword in hand, unyielding and free,
And the Murthys’ digital dreams, weaving code that sets the world aglee.
Bengaluru’s silicon heartbeat pulses, birthing stars in the ISRO night,
From coffee hills to cosmic flights, Karnataka’s light burns ever bright.
On this Rajyotsava dawn, let Kannada’s tongue sing Bharat’s song,
Rajyaseva to Rastraseva, a bridge where state and nation belong.
Oh, land of elephants and epics, of yakshagana tales untold,
May your spirit unite us all, in threads of saffron, green, and gold.

Happy Kannada Rajyotsava! On this vibrant November 1st, 2025, as the sun rises over the storied landscapes of Karnataka—from the misty Coorg estates to the bustling streets of Bengaluru—we extend our warmest wishes to every proud son and daughter of this magnificent state. Karnataka Rajyotsava marks not just the formation of a linguistic homeland in 1956, but a reaffirmation of cultural pride, resilience, and boundless contribution. Today, let us honor the land that has given India and the world so much, and transform this state celebration into a Bharatotsava—a grand festival of national unity, where every Indian draws inspiration from Karnataka’s ethos of service, innovation, and harmony.
Karnataka, often called the “Garden State,” is a tapestry woven from the threads of extraordinary lives and groundbreaking achievements. It is the birthplace of visionaries who embodied Rajyaseva (service to the state) while elevating Rastraseva (service to the nation). Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the engineer par excellence, didn’t just build dams like the iconic Krishna Raja Sagara; he architected modern India’s infrastructure, ensuring water, power, and progress for millions. The Wodeyar dynasty, rulers of Mysore for over six centuries, championed progressive reforms— from women’s education to public health—long before they became national imperatives, fostering a legacy of enlightened governance that influenced India’s democratic foundations.
In contemporary times, N. R. Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty stand as beacons of ethical entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Through Infosys, they ignited India’s IT revolution, turning Bengaluru into the “Silicon Valley of the East.” Today, Karnataka powers nearly 9% of India’s GDP, with a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) exceeding $300 billion, driven by IT, biotechnology (contributing over one-third of India’s biotech exports), aerospace, and manufacturing. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru has launched India into the cosmos, from Chandrayaan’s lunar triumphs to cost-effective satellite constellations that connect remote villages. Globally, Karnataka’s talent fuels tech giants like Google and Microsoft, while its coffee and spices grace tables from New York to Tokyo. This is a state of “great men, women, and jobs”—a hub where innovation creates opportunities, not just for Kannadigas, but for every Indian chasing dreams.
What makes Karnataka’s story a clarion call for Bharatotsava? It reminds us that true patriotism blooms when regional pride fuels national progress. On this day, let every Indian—whether from the snow-capped Himalayas or the sun-baked Thar—reflect on how one state’s Rajyaseva amplifies Rastraseva. Imagine a united Bharat, where Karnataka’s engineering minds collaborate with Tamil Nadu’s scholars, Kerala’s healers, and Punjab’s warriors to build a $5 trillion economy by 2027. Let Rajyotsava evolve into Bharatotsava: a pan-India festival of shared heritage, where folk dances from Yakshagana to Bhangra blend under one tricolor, inspiring youth to innovate, serve, and uplift. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The soul of India lives in its villages”—and Karnataka’s villages, from the literary cradle of Hampi to the tech incubators of Hubballi, pulse with that very soul.
Yet, inspiration must be tempered with vigilance. As we celebrate, let us address the shadows that loom over our global diaspora. Indian men and women, driven by ambition, often fall into “job traps” abroad—lured by false promises of prosperity, only to face exploitation. In Cambodia, hundreds of Indians, including graduates from Kerala and beyond, have been ensnared in Chinese-run cyber-scam factories, forced into fraudulent schemes under threat of violence, with rescues highlighting a grim pattern of trafficking. Similarly, in Saudi Arabia, the kafala sponsorship system binds Indian migrant workers—over 2.6 million strong—to employers who confiscate passports, withhold wages, impose grueling 12-16 hour shifts in hazardous conditions, and perpetrate physical and sexual abuse, especially against domestic workers. This “modern-day slavery” thrives on deception during recruitment, exorbitant fees from Indian agencies, and legal voids that trap victims in poverty and trauma.
These crises stem not just from economic desperation but deeper biases: misandry that disproportionately targets men in labor abuses, and Indophobia fueled by India’s unique ideological stance. As the world’s most populous nation, India stands as a political minority—its pluralistic ethos allied with just a handful of like-minded partners—against blocs dominated by polarizing ideologies (one influencing over 100 nations, another 30+). This isolation makes our citizens vulnerable abroad, from Cambodian scam dens to Gulf work camps.
On this Kannada Rajyotsava, we propose a bold step toward Bharatotsava solidarity: a Global Helpline for Indians Abroad. Building on initiatives like First India’s Labour Helpline, this 24/7 multilingual lifeline—coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs, embassies, and NGOs—would offer real-time counseling, legal aid, and repatriation support for NRIs and citizens facing exploitation. NRIs working overseas, your insights are vital: share experiences to shape it. Let embassies worldwide host dedicated desks, empowered by AI-driven alerts and partnerships with platforms like the International Labour Organization.
Fellow Indians, let Karnataka’s spirit—rooted in service, unbowed by adversity—inspire us. On this day of yellow blooms and resounding Vande Mataram, pledge to build a safer, stronger Bharat. Celebrate your roots, embrace your brothers and sisters across states, and stand vigilant against those who prey on our dreams. Together, from Rajyotsava to Bharatotsava, we rise—not as a minority, but as a mighty mosaic of humanity. Jai Karnataka! Jai Hind!
